Straight Up Kayaks

Are pelican kayaks tippy to kayak in? I just dont know much about kayaks and I heard from my dad that the pelican brand is a good kayak. Its not for me but the person it is for is scared it will tip. Does anyone know if it is a non tip kayak?

pelican kayaks/transporting roof systems? I recently purchased a 14ft. pelican pursuit tandem kayak. I am looking for advise on purchasing a transport roof system. I have a 2005 Jeep Laredo with a roof rack. I have seen different choices and am looking for any input from people that have used any of the choices out there. Especially for ease of putting up and taking down with safety of being the utmost importance. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

is the Pelican Getaway Sporting 10' kayak very good? how's the tracking? does it flip too easily? Would it be good for beginners? What types of water do you take it one? do you like this compared to other kayaks in this price range, such as the old town rush kayak? thanks

what do you do to keep a low sitting kayak dry inside, seems to take on water over the top, it is a touring ka My daughter is handicapped so we recently purchased a tandem pelican kayak my husband paddles them, it sits too low in the water. The water comes up over the top when on a rough lake such as in wind, what can we do to prevent this from happening????? To keep them safe??? They are below the allowed weight by 200lbs.

Upgrading to a Pelican Pursuit 100 or Old Town Otter Kayak? I've been kayaking with a Sevylor Tahiti Classic but finally got sick of having an inflatable and decided to get into hardshell kayaks. I've been looking at the Old Town Otter or the Pelican Pursuit 100 for about a few months now. Since i'm a college student with a small budget is one of these a good kayak to start out with? Where do I put redfish that I catch on a kayak if I wan to bring them home? I want to buy a kayak and I am looking at the pelican castaway 116. I wan to know where I can put the redfish if I want to eat them. People have suggested stringers but I think redfish will be too strong and big to put on a stringer. I also have the issue of alligators, shark, and alligator gar eating my fish. Any suggestions?

sit-in kayak question? I have been searching for a highback seat for my pelican sit-in kayak. Im starting to believe they dont exist. I can only find seats for sit-on-top kayaks. Need help to know if what im looking for exist or where to find it? It does not need to be for a pelican exactly, just some standard sit-in kayak high back seat.

Can you recommend a kayak paddle? I just purchased an 8 foot Pelican Pursuit to use on the small lake I live on. Very calm water. I'm looking for a decent paddle to purchase, not top of the line but not a cheap-o either. Any recommendation?

help, kayak is filling with water? my kayak is getting water in the hull, its a recreational sot hard kayak, and i have no idea where the water is coming from, it is only a small amount but still... i have looked around it and can find any leaks any ideas? its a pelican apex model 2 seater btw

buying a kayak - 8 ft? never been kayaking before. yesterday i bought a cheap Pelican sit-on for 150 bucks. it's 8 ft, max capacity 175 lbs. i weigh 170 and am 6' tall..should i return it and get a better one? do you suggest a sit-in? i plan on hitting mainly calm waters (wide river without much current, bays, sounds, etc)

how do i stop my kayak carrier from buzzing? I just got a pelican car top carrier to carry my 8ft kayak on a sunfire. It got us where we wanted to go but it was only about 10 minutes away, and it made a horrible buzzing noise when we went over 40mph. What causes this, and is there any way to stop it, and would it be safe to take on the highway at 75mph? (maybe we just put it on wrong? I dont know.) also would I be able to get another kit, and haul two kayaks on a sunfire? Thanks for your help so far. Do you think you could make a video to show me how to keep it tight. Like I said it was our first time so I had no idea how to do it.

Can someone give me advise on purchasing a Kayak? New to kayaking. Im looking for a tandem kayak that is affordable, I will be using it for mostly fishing. I am just having trouble finding a used and/or affordable one. I cant see myself spending over $700 on basically a hull... I have looked at the pelican elite but i havent seen any reviews on the elite series and its not really made for fishing. I also am not that worried about tracking I paddled 7 miles on a $100 inflatable and Im sure anything is better than an inflatable,not to mention hook resistant. And what is better sit on top or sit in? Thanks.....

KAYAKers! Need some advise on transporting those Yaks!? Hello. I have 2 Pelican 11ft sit on top Yaks and a small Toyota corolla to put them on. I do not have a utility rack, and I am not in the position to have one installed on my car. So anything involving one of those is out of the question.. This is what I was planning on doing. What kayak (model or even type) would be best suited for a long river tour? I want to take a long term (2 week) solo trip down the Guadalupe river. From Hunt Texas to Austin. I plan to take all gear with me and eat mostly military MREs. The river doesn't have too many rapids but it definitely has some exceptionally shallow parts and some snaking and winding turns. I've tried this trip before in a Pelican Castaway Deluxe and it worked well but didn't survive the trip. Even being careful the shallow bits ate through the hull only halfway though. Of course money is always a factor and value is important. This is not a question over SHOULD I attempt this trip again, or HOW to attempt this trip; only in what vessel this community recommends.
