Straight Up Kayaks

My kayak paddle is stuck together? I have a Carlisle Magic Nylon paddle and after the last time I went kayaking I could take it apart again. It has the little metal tab in the whole that needs to pressed before you can pull it apart. Any suggestions on taking it apart without damage to the paddle! Once I get it apart I will sand it down a bit so it's easier next time. Thanks for the help!
