How do I paint using a gel coat on canoes?

painting war canoes and I don't know if I need thinner or hardener or what. I need to shoot the paint using a regular gravity feed car painting gun. Any help would be appreciated

1. I never used any but marine paint and a fine scuff with sandpaper
2. The gel-coat finish is the outer layer from the factory. You have to prime and paint it like a car. You will not match the gel-coat no matter what, so if you want it to look mint you have to paint the whole thing.
