Carving miniature canoes out of one piece of wood? How do you do it?

1. What wood. 2. What tools 3. how long would it take on average 4. what should I do to finish it up. Should I wax or paint, etc.? Whoever answers the best and completly wins.

1. I would use balsa it's soft and easy to work with. Tools, I would use a good pocket knife and sandpaper, although I would actually use a dremel. Hand tools a couple of hours, with a dremel a few minutes. Sand it real smooth and then seal it then paint it. Good luck and hope this helps.
