what is the canoes kinetic energy?
if the canoe is a small 20 kg canoe and is floating down river at a speed of 2 meters per second?

- Simply use KE = 1/2*m*v^2 = 1/2*20*4 = 40 J
- By definition, Kinetic Energy = KE = (1/2)MV^2 where M = mass = 20 kg (given) V = velocity = 2 m/sec. (given) Substituting values, KE = (1/2)(20)(2^2) KE = 40 joules Hope this helps.
- Look up Kinetic Energy in your text book....or Google. Plug the numbers into the formula, get your calculator.....and do the arithmetic. This is something you can and should do for yourself.
